How It Works
Non-Invasive Ultrasound and Massage Therapy
The two handpieces of the MC1™ System work in tandem to treat the target area and promote drainage through the lymphatic system.
Ultrasound Diathermy
The MC1 System uses ultrasound energy to affect fatty tissue in a non-invasive manner — no incisions required. Ultrasound energy passes through the skin on the way to the underlying fatty tissue layer. The total amount of energy applied to the skin can be controlled based on patient comfort.
The MC1 device uses a dual transducer head that emits a double beam of overlapping ultrasonic energy at a frequency of 1MHz. The ultrasound beam overlaps and treats fatty tissue between 1cm and 5cm below the surface of the skin.
The ultrasonic handpiece delivers energy on a continuous basis, like a continuous massage, and results in both acoustic thermal and acoustic mechanical effects. These mechanisms warm the treatment area and temporarily change the characteristics of the underlying tissue matrix.
The operator acts with a continual motion, gently following the patient's body contour, which improves patient interaction and also acts in concert with the lymphatic system.
Zonal Massage
The vacuum handpiece on the MC1 System stimulates the lymphatic system to drain away excess toxins and lipids for removal from the body. At the same time, it increases local blood circulation. The zonal massage handpiece can also be used to help open the lymph nodes pre- and post-treatment.
Treatment Time
The average VASER Shape session time with the MC1 device is about 30 minutes per body area. This includes a complete treatment of ultrasound and massage. Treatments are usually scheduled a week apart, with a lymph-drainage (zonal massage) session scheduled between each combined ultrasound and massage session. Most patients undergo a regimen of 4 to 5 total treatments.
* The MC1 and MedSculpt Systems are FDA cleared for relief of minor muscle aches, pain and muscle spasms, temporary improvement in local blood circulation, and temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite.
