Louisville, CO – Dr. Mark Schafer, PhD, FAIUM FASA, Chief Technology Officer of Sound Surgical Technologies LLC, recently presented at the 41^st Annual Meeting of the Ultrasound Industry Association that was held on April 16-18, 2012 in San Francisco, CA.

The presentation entitled, “Invasive/Non-invasive Ultrasound Effects on Adipocytes and Adipose-Derived Stem Cells,” reviewed recent clinical and preclinical data of the VASER Lipo^® and VASER^® Shape Systems. The VASER Lipo data unequivocally demonstrated high viability and availability of aspirated adipocytes and Adipose-Derived Regenerative Cells. The VASER Shape pre-clinical data indicated that the aesthetic treatment causes adipocytes to release lipids, which migrate to the lymphatic system. The findings highlighted the unique capabilities of ultrasound technology as applied to the aesthetic market.

Louisville, CO – Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Alfredo Hoyos presented at the 2012 New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Princeton, New Jersey on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Dr. Hoyos’ presentation entitled, “Three-Dimensional Body Contouring – The Next Generation of Liposuction, Abdominoplasty, and Muscle Augmentation with Fat Grafting,” featured Sound Surgical Technologies’ VASER Lipo System.

The presentation detailed Dr. Hoyos’ extensive research and practice of body contouring, starting with the examination of body aesthetics and the definition of the ideal body. Additionally, an in-depth overview was given of underlying anatomy, and most importantly, how it translates to surface anatomy. By referring back to early forms of liposuction, Dr. Hoyos highlighted the technique enhancements in today’s generation of liposculpting and the advancements that the VASER Lipo System has made in preserving the viability fat cells for subsequent fat grafting procedures.
