Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Goldberger brings more than 25 years of success leading medical device businesses. Prior to joining Sound Surgical Technologies, Mr. Goldberger was Chief Executive Officer of Glucon, Inc., a developer of glucose monitoring devices based on photoacoustic principles. From 2001 to 2004, he was President of the Medical Group of OSI Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq OSIS). The Medical Group grew to exceed $250M under Mr. Goldberger’s leadership, and included Spacelabs Medical, Dolphin Medical and Osteometer. In 1994, Mr. Goldberger co-founded Optiscan Biomedical Corporation, a venture-backed project in the glucose monitoring field. He previously held general management positions with Ohmeda and Nellcor, both suppliers of critical care solutions. Mr. Goldberger earned a BSME from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MSME from Stanford University. He is an inventor on more than 50 U.S. patents in the medical device field.
Vice President, Research & Development and Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Schafer joined Sound Surgical Technologies in August 2008. Prior to joining the company, he served as President and Principal Scientist with Sonic Tech, Inc. from 2001, providing consulting expertise in management, product development, research, testing, manufacturing and regulatory aspects of ultrasound systems and applications. From 1998 to 2001, Dr. Schafer served as Vice President, Ultrasound Technology Group, Perceptron, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of ultrasound systems for the forest products industry, where his work resulted in six new patents. He was the founder and CEO of Sonic Technologies, Inc., specializing in measurement of diagnostic, surgical and lithotripsy medical ultrasound devices from 1989 to 1998 when the company was sold to Perceptron, Inc. At Sonic Technologies, he led the development of new applications of ultrasound product lines for the food and forestry industries, from inception through research, development, manufacturing, marketing and sales. Prior to that time, Dr. Schafer served in various ultrasound and sonar research and development positions, including Senior Research Engineer with Interspec, Inc. responsible for system design and project engineering of new medical ultrasound products, including annular array and flow mapping devices, multi-element ultrasonic transducers, and computer simulation of novel ultrasound imaging algorithms and transducer designs. He has been a Visiting Adjunct Professor at the Biomedical Engineering and Science Institute at Drexel University and has authored numerous articles in refereed journals, book chapters, and conference proceeding papers. Dr. Schafer is the holder of 13 U.S. patents. He is a Fellow and Governor of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and a former chair of its Standards Committee, past president and a director of the Ultrasonic Industry Association, chair of the Ultrasound Technical Committee of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and an expert representative to the International Electrotechnical Commission for ultrasonic surgical and high intensity focused ultrasound equipment. Dr. Schafer holds an S.B. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.S. in acoustics from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Drexel University.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Sullivan has served as Chief Financial Officer since July 2005. From July 2004 until joining the company, Mr. Sullivan provided interim financial leadership services as Chief Financial Officer to private clients. From February 2001 until June 2004, Mr. Sullivan served as Chief Information Officer, Corporate Secretary and Chief Financial Officer of Renaissance Mark, Inc. (formerly a division of Mail-Well, Inc.), a consumer products label manufacturing company. From March 1998 to January 2001, Mr. Sullivan was Vice President/Finance of Abacus Direct, the data division of DoubleClick, Inc. Prior to that time, Mr. Sullivan held various finance, treasury and accounting management positions at Electronic Data Systems, Inc. and General Motors Acceptance Corporation. Mr. Sullivan is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.B.A. in marketing from Texas Tech University, an M.B.A. in finance from the University of North Texas, and an M.S. in accounting from the University of Colorado.
General Counsel and Secretary
Mr. Foote has served as General Counsel and Secretary since July 2005. He was a Manager at Sound Surgical Technologies from 1999 through May 2006 and Chief Financial Officer from 2000 through June 2005. He is an experienced business executive and corporate, transactional and financial lawyer. Before joining Sound Surgical Technologies, Mr. Foote served as business and legal advisor to small-and medium-sized companies and start-up companies from 1997. Prior to that time, he was Vice President of Pan Atlantic Group Co., Inc., a privately held turn around acquisition and management company; Chief Executive Officer of Pincock, Allen & Holt, Inc., an international mining engineering and consulting firm; and President and Chief Operating Officer of Scaltech Inc., a company providing environmental services and equipment to the oil refining industry. Mr. Foote holds a B.S.B.A. in finance from the University of Denver, a J.D. from the University of Colorado, an LL. M. in international law from King’s College, University of London (U.K.), and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Mr. Morgan has been in sales management at Sound Surgical Technologies since 2002. Prior to becoming Vice President - Worldwide Sales in July 2006, he served as Vice President - International Sales and Distribution and before that, Vice President - U.S. Sales. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Morgan was the Director of The Americas and Australia Distribution for SonoSite, Inc., a manufacturer of digital handheld diagnostic ultrasound devices. Prior to that time, Mr. Morgan held various management positions at ATL Ultrasound (Division of Philips Medical Systems) and McKesson Drug Company. Mr. Morgan holds a B.S. in finance from the University of Arizona and an M.B.A. from the University of Oregon Graduate School of Business.
Member of the Management Committee
Mr. Auch became a Manager of Sound Surgical Technologies in June 2006. He also serves as a Director at Legg Mason Funds, Smith Barney Trak Funds, US Bancorp Asset Management, Inc. Mutual Funds, UBS Mutual Funds and the Nicholas Applegate Funds. He is a trustee of Hillsdale College (MI) and at the end of 2005, completed 30 years of service as a trustee of the Arizona Heart Institute. From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Auch was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. Prior to that time, he had a 17-year career with brokerage firm Paine Webber, including positions as Executive Vice President, Director and Member of the Executive Committee.
Member of the Management Committee and Founder
Dr. Cimino founded Sound Surgical Technologies LLC in 1998 and was Chair of the Management Committee of the company from August 1998 through May 2006, Chief Executive Officer from August 1998 through May 2002, and President from June 2002 through August 2008. Before founding Sound Surgical Technologies, he was Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer at Valleylab Inc., a division of Pfizer Inc. and then of United States Surgical Corporation, where he was employed from 1993 to July 1998. Prior to that time he held various engineering and development positions in the biotechnology and aerospace industries with Heart Rhythm Technologies, a medical device start-up company funded by Eli Lilly and Company, and Boeing Aerospace Company, respectively. He holds 18 U.S. patents on devices in the field of electro- and ultrasonic surgery and is the author of numerous publications on ultrasonic surgery and related subjects. Dr. Cimino holds a B.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado, an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Utah.

Mr. Feldman became a Manager of Sound Surgical Technologies in June 2006. He is Chief Executive Officer of Inlign Wealth Management, LLC, Phoenix, AZ. An affiliate of Inlign Wealth Management, Inlign Advisers, LLC, was ranked 18th out of 500 advisors nationwide in the fifth annual ranking of Bloomberg’s Top Wealth Managers. Before forming Inlign Wealth Management in 2002, Mr. Feldman was engaged in the Private Client Services practice of Arthur Andersen LLP from 1984. From 1995 to 2002, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arthur Andersen Financial Advisers, as well as a member of its Executive Committee. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and a Personal Financial Specialist. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Arizona State University.
Chairman and Member of the Management Committee
Mr. Holthe became a Manager and Chairman of the Management Committee of Sound Surgical in June 2006. He is President and a General Partner of Inlign Capital Partners. Before joining Inlign in 2004, He was President of Retail Marketing with Conoco Phillips Corporation and President and CEO of its subsidiary, The Circle K Corporation. Mr. Holthe held various positions with Circle K from 1993 and was involved in numerous public and private company mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings of lease and financial arrangements. Circle K operated 2,500 retail convenience stores in 37 states and had national and international franchises of an additional 3,000 stores. The company had over $4 billion in revenue and 21,000 employees. From 1986 to 1992, Mr. Holthe was a Certified Public Accountant and a manager with Arthur Andersen & Company’s Audit and Corporate Recovery Service Group, where his primary focus was on bankruptcy and business workout consulting. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Arizona State University.
Member of the Management Committee
Mr. Reese became a Manager of Sound Surgical Technologies in June 2006. He is a General Partner in Inlign Capital Partners, and is General Partner of RHYS Limited Partnership, Paradise Valley, AZ. Previously, he served on the board of directors of Fifth Third Bancorp, Cincinnati, OH, and as Chairman of State Savings Company, Columbus, Ohio; Chairman of State Savings Bank, F.S.B., Scottsdale, Arizona; Chairman of Sundance Broadcasting, Inc., Phoenix, Arizona; and Chairman of Sundance Broadcasting of Idaho, Inc. He currently serves as a Director of the Heard Museum and the Valley of the Sun United Way Foundation, both in Phoenix. Mr. Reese holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Graduate School of Business and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
